Northwest Science - Publication Costs

New for 2026! Northwest Science is participating in BioOne's Subscribe to Open (S2O) program, and S2O is now active. As a result, all articles published in 2026 Volumes of Northwest Science will be Open Access, in perpetuity, while authors pay only our standard page charges. The costs are as follows:

• Article processing charge for permanent Open Access articles and notes is waived.
• Page charges for all articles and notes:
• • Black-and-white pages $65/pg (NWSA members) or $80/pg (non-members),
  • Color pages $71/pg (members) or $86/pg (non-members),
  • Authors should expect the number of journal pages to be approximately 0.38 x the number of manuscript pages (text pages plus figures and tables).
• Comments and replies (3 journal pages or less):
  • Permanent Open Access,
  • No page charges,
  • Page charges as above for any comment or reply exceeding 3 journal pages.
